From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking the character, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the team reach locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Explorers and Planners tables.
Audiences can anticipate learning which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
