The Animated Series' Showrunner Has Seen Fans' Second Season Predictions — And She Has Positive Updates

The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel debuts on the streaming platform this week, and fan speculation has been widespread.

The first season presents a diverse group of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.

The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?

"Naturally, I don't make the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner stated earlier this year. "However I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"

The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.

That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast the new season progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating happens now.

"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."

She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.

"I've come across a couple people create a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."

Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
